H20 gets her new gennaker
Category : Design/Build , Testing

This weekend was the first opportunity to try out the brand new gennaker from Doyle Sails Tauranga. The cut was really nice and suited the lighter air at the start of our second race. We didn’t win the race, far from it, but we did learn a lot about the set-up of the boat, what worked and what didn’t. I have a list of things to change, or modify already. I’m pretty certain these little mods will make a big difference making boat handling a little easier and allowing for better boat trim, reducing drag and increasing speed and stability at the same time. A huge Congratulations to all the CMR team who, just set a new record at Bonneville Speed Week!
This week I got back from Mt Ruhepahu just in time to fit the new gennaker to the H20. There is racing scheduled for this weekend and I’m doing my best to make sure the boat is there in good form. The forecast is for 8-12 knots from the N.E. Favorable for trying out this new down wind sail from Sam and the team at Doyle Sails Tauranga, thanks Sam! The sail is a perfect fit and so its onto some sheet splicing and bungy adjustments today to finish the gennaker setup.
